Overview The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the strategic communications for the School of Architecture, including internal and external communications, media relations, and marketing, to broaden the impact of the School’s public information activities.

Reporting to the Public Programming and Publications Manager, the incumbent will implement and coordinate from conception to final outputthe School's day-to-day media relations, along with creative, editorial, and design services.

They will write, edit, prepare and / or deliver information from or about the School through various marketing and print materials, press releases, and digital platforms, including the School’s website and social media channels, and other material as needed.

They will also ensure the consistency of the School's message and image across all communications media, and coordinate the quality assurance and production process of all the School’s communications.

This position is full-time and requires some weekend and evening hours. Responsibilities Communication, Marketing and Content Creation : 50% · Manage writing, editing, and production of the School’s marketing and print materials (e.

g., School information brochures, handbooks, annual Workbook, website content). · Collaborate with School staff on the development of new communications / outreach products and initiatives.

  • Conduct interviews, write articles, edit, proofread, and distribute content for electronic and print communication. · Manage the print production of an array of institutional materials, as well as the design and content of the School’s informational brochures, letterheads, and related marketing and print materials according to our designated brand guide.
  • Draft key institutional documents and work on special projects as needed, such as the annual architecture school survey report, SoA Annual Report, and NAAB (accreditation) report, where the position will help manage, collect data, and write related publications.
  • Work with external designer(s) on the design of marketing and print material. · Often working with University’s Office of Communications, engage and maintain relationships with the press and respond to press requests.
  • Monitor communications-related analytics and data in relation to SoA events. · Manage communications and outreach related to SoA Alumni and Alumni events · Document communications operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Manage production timeline and graphic standards with key staff for various events. · Coordinate and manage brand identity across all SoA projects and processes.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Public Programs and Publications for the distribution of publications as needed. · Assist as needed with the marketing and dissemination of academic papers, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Facilitate hiring vendors or freelancers to photograph and / or film SoA events. · Maintain and organize SoA website and corresponding platforms for archiving public-facing photos and videos (ie : Google Drive, Vimeo, Flickr, etc.

Work within the University’s financial business systems to process POs and invoices as necessary. Digital Strategy and Social Media : 30% Create substantive content and engagement for various media platforms including websites, email, social media, academic calendars, blogs, newsletters, etc.

Use of platforms in content management systems, such as Wordpress and Drupal; design and editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat);

and CRM tools such as Mailchimp. Responsible for leading new website initiatives. Develop new uses, strategies, and tools for digital communications, data visualization, and presentation, as needed.

Develop outreach strategies for promoting SoA-related announcements, including faculty news / awards, lectures / conferences, exhibitions, etc.

Maintain School’s various contact and mailing lists including alumni contacts and press lists. Recruiting Events : 20% Manage and organize all aspects of the SoA Open Houses one in Fall and one in Spring.

Collaborate with the Academic Programs Manager to provide marketing materials for Undergraduate recruiting events including Fall’s Academic Expo and Spring’s Princeton Preview.

Support for miscellaneous recruiting events for the Dean or other events as needed. Qualifications Qualifications Required : Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, art, English, or a related field is required.

At least 3-5 years of experience in a communications or related role. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated editing and writing experience, with ability to edit for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone.

Proficiency with modern publishing and web-based communication methods / tools; an understanding of visual legibility / compliance.

Experience writing, researching, interviewing, and pitching stories for digital and print media. Exceptional judgement and organizational skills.

Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy; ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Success in planning, implementing, and managing communications strategies and translating complex concepts / projects into compelling and clear materials suitable for a general audience.

Flexible and must be adaptive to changing needs and priorities. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Google G-Suite, other cloud-based platforms, Drupal, Wordpress, and social media platforms.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Qualifications Preferred : Master of Architecture degree or related field is preferred.

Experience in a university or college setting is preferred; as is a background / education in architecture, urban planning, the arts, or design.

Experience with design, photography, and / or video animation is preferred.
