Patient Care Technician Position in Critical Care Unit
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at MD Anderson provides patient focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Quality and patient outcomes are at the heart of our practice. The ICU team participates in Evidence Based Practice, unit and hospital-based committees, and local and national conferences.
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse. Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs. Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit / discharge and obtaining vital signs. Updates and retrieves patient information. Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Acts as part of an assigned care team.
Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of recent experience working as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care setting. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Prefer one year of recent experience working in direct patient care.
Shift : This position works 3-12 / hour shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Evening / Nights.

Education : Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience : Preferred : One year of recent experience working as a Nursing Assistant in an acute care setting.
Licensure / Certification : Preferred : Nursing Assistant Certification.
