About Us : Carbon Ridge ( CR ) is a United States-based developer of carbon capture & storage solutions for the Maritime and Offshore industries.

CR's Onboard Carbon Capture & Storage ( OCCS ) solution provides a low-cost and near-term solution to significantly reduce the intensity of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases (GHGs) onboard large maritime vessels and offshore operating assets.

Position Overview : We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Engineering to provide leadership for the commercial-scale development and implementation of our patent-pending OCCS technology.

The ideal candidate for this role has strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex projects inside their organization as well as with external partners.

Our new Director of Engineering will assist in building our engineering organization and help lead strategy, planning, target-setting, operational and organizational effectiveness efforts.

The candidate will have a robust background in the oil and gas, chemical and / or or renewable energy industries, with a proven track record in leading complex engineering projects and teams, particularly in startup or high-growth environments.

This position will be primarily in-person at our corporate office in Houston, TX with regular visits to jobsites, testing facilities, as well as opportunities to routinely work remotely.

CR seeks a candidate with demonstrated success with a significant customer / partner-facing role during the technology commercialization process.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Commercial Engineering Development and Execution

Lead the design, development and detailed engineering process for the commercial scale-up of our CO

capture technology

  • Work with our VP of Technology and R&D team to translate conceptual designs and process design packages ( PDP’s ) into complete engineering packages.
  • Solve internal engineering needs / problems accessing internal resources or external resources / partners.
  • Manage vendor selection for process equipment and manufacturing.
  • Develop and manage project CAPEX & OPEX estimates, internal project budgets as well as schedule tracking and reporting methodologies that span engineering, procurement, and construction support.
  • Interface with and manage relationships with EPCs and shipyards performing commercial project tasks; Serve as technical / engineering interface with CR customers.
  • Provide engineering guidance for product manufacturing.

2. Pilot Operations Support

  • Assist our technical team responsible for pilot system deployment in addressing complex technical issues, providing expert guidance and solutions.
  • Work on-site with CR team to test and deploy our pilot carbon capture system.
  • Provide project management support for pilot deployment and operations including working with project schedules, budgets and planning.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related field). Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of Engineering experience working in technology focused organizations. Senior-level experience within engineering firms, oil & gas companies, chemical companies and / or energy transition start-ups.
  • 5+ years managing and leading teams and delivering large / multidisciplinary projects (experience managing relationships with large EPC firms is a plus)
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end detailed engineering processes (including FEL / FEED), construction and optimization.
  • Experience in advanced separations processes (working directly with carbon capture technologies and processes is highly desirable).
  • Ability to independently manage the full life-cycle of a carbon capture engineering process from conceptual design, manufacturing and unit commissioning.
  • Experience and comfortability working onsite at system deployments; supporting project commissioning, unit operations, troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Significant experience managing engineering teams, with strong project management, budgeting and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to engineering teams and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work highly effectively across multiple teams.
