Job Overview

The Fire Safety Deputy Director operates and monitors the Fire Alarm Panel located in the lobby of the Herald Square store.

What You Will Do

• Operate and monitor the Fire Alarm Panel located in the Herald Square store lobby.
• Respond to fire alarm activations by :

Acknowledging the alarm.

Inspecting packages and announcing guests to the 12th and 13th floors.

Skills You Will Need

Fire Safety & Emergency Response Expertise Knowledge of fire alarm systems, life safety protocols, and FDNY procedures to effectively manage emergencies.

Situational Awareness & Problem-Solving Ability to quickly assess and respond to fire alarms, safety risks, and non-fire emergencies with sound judgment.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills Strong verbal communication skills to deliver clear announcements, relay information to FDNY and internal teams, and interact professionally with employees, contractors, and visitors.

Calm Under Pressure Ability to remain composed, decisive, and effective in stressful or potentially hostile situations.

Technical Proficiency Familiarity with operating fire alarm panels, monitoring systems, and maintaining large-scale fire safety equipment (3,000+ devices).

Collaboration & Teamwork Skilled at working with Emergency Response Teams, store staff, contractors, and external agencies to ensure coordinated safety efforts.

Attention to Detail Diligence in monitoring systems, inspecting equipment, and ensuring compliance with fire safety and security protocols.

Adaptability & Resourcefulness Self-starter who can work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to shifting demands and emergencies.

Security & Access Control Awareness Ability to enforce building access policies, inspect packages, and maintain a safe business environment.
