Job Summary

Under the direction of Project SAFE Director and Survivor Advocate, the Project SAFE Prevention Education and Program Manager is responsible for managing prevention, education, and awareness-raising activities on Occidental’s campus related to sexual and interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and sexual exploitation.

Responsibilities include supervising student Programming Assistants (Peer Advocates) to meet program objectives, facilitate student group training, and enhance student learning goals.

Job Duties

50% - Participate in the development and implementation of 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year strategies for prevention education on Campus including facilitating and leading trainings for : athletics, REHS, Greek Life, Student Organizations, and facilitating ongoing prevention training from first year to senior year.

Invite third-party presenters to support in the ongoing prevention education needs of campus. - (Essential)

15% - Supervise student Programming Assistants (Peer Advocates) to meet office objectives, facilitate student group training, and enhance student learning goals.

Delegate programming responsibilities within constraints of student worker approved hours to Peer Advocates - (Marginal)

15% - Consult on, develop, implement and evaluate training and programming based on assessment of community needs. Using a data-informed approach, identifying ongoing trends and topics requested for new prevention education.

Organize and distribute passive programming related to Project SAFE such as flyers, e-media, etc - (Essential)

20% - Oversight of departmental programming and student salary budgets. In the Director’s absence, represent Project SAFE in meetings, events, etc. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, communication, educational programming or other fields related to position responsibilities.

Completion of state certification in sexual assault crisis counselor and domestic violence advocate training. Three years of progressively responsible experience developing and executing training strategies in the prevention of sexual and interpersonal violence and / or other relevant counseling / training work.

Demonstrated experience working with college-aged population, managing budgets and participating in strategic planning. Demonstrated supervisory experience.

Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care, empowerment-based advocacy, and a social justice model-based understanding of violence and consent.

Knowledge of and skilled at developing and applying restorative practices, including talking circle facilitation and restorative justice models of accountability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives / folders / forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.

Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

Strong commitment to a quality work product. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.

Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.

Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.

Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks / projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.

Ability to self-motivate and work independently. Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in student development, social work, public health or equivalent. Five of progressively responsible experience developing and executing training strategies in the prevention of sexual and interpersonal violence and / or other relevant counseling / training work.

Experience working in a college / university setting.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE : $66,560 / yr
