What You Will Do
The Solder Technician is primarily responsible for using fine pitch SMT soldering skills to rework and modify engineering micro-sized components on CCAs and prototype sub-assemblies.
The Technician will use other fabrication and test skills to complete assemblies and cable / harness systems per Engineering drawings, schematics, or work instructions.
Work includes Engineering prototyping and repair of returned materials.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective Engineering micro-components and wiring.
This is to ensure installations meet Engineering conformity. They will demonstrate effective cable / harness repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, crimping, soldering and pinning of wiring.
The candidate will ensure that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for use. Verification / Inspection may be required, and candidate will identify and document findings per authorizing protocols.
The candidate may also provide on the job recommendations to solve hardware integration issues with mid and upper-level Engineering and Leadership.
The candidate will comply with the company’s FOD program, tool control program and all safety regulations. The candidate may perform duties at various company locations.

Identify, repair, and replace damage to wire harnesses and cable assemblies
Replace mechanical and electrical components
Recognize failures and isolate problems. Suggest appropriate corrective action
Keep management appraised of all unresolved and / or potential problems that would negatively affect schedules or quality
Provide support to the Engineering development team on all assignments an
Support other lab assignments within our department.
Qualifications You Must Have
HS Diploma (or GED) or AA / AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training)
Typically requires minimum of 2 years experience of micro-soldering fine pitch SMT components
Typically requires IPC J-STD-001 solder certification
Typically requires verification / inspection experience with associated standards, processes, and documentation
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.
S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Associates degree in a technical field
IPC 610 and IPC 620 certifications
Recent experience using hand tools such as cutters, wire strippers, X-acto knives, electric heat gun, and fixtures such as mold and mandrels
Experience with mechanical and solder associated standards, processes, and documentation
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, schematics, detailed electronic blueprints, and other similar authorized drawings and documents.
Experience working within an engineering technical support environment

The salary range for this role is 36,000 USD - 72,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
