Facilities Maintenance Technician
Maintenance Planner is responsible for leading the capital project and ensuring that all maintenance activities in a facility are well-planned and executed in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
They work closely with other maintenance personnel as well as operations and other teams / departments to schedule regular preventive maintenance and conduct inspections of equipment and systems
Essential Job Functions :
Promotes a safety-first environment while following and enforcing all safety & quality policies and procedures throughout the facility and ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements (includes but not limited to PPE, GMP, HACCP, LOTO, OSHA, etc.)
Understand the job well enough to describe what needs to be accomplished, estimate labor hours, tools, and resources needed to complete different work orders.
Estimate the time, labor, materials, and resources needed for each work order.
Create and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Prepare preventative maintenance plans and schedules that are in sync with the organization's maintenance goals.
Act as the primary liaison person between maintenance and operations.
Work closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to prioritize and assign work orders.
Lead communication between maintenance and other internal & external customers of maintenance work to ensure that everyone receives timely, efficient, and quality service.
Coordinate planned downtimes to reduce mean time between failures and minimize interference with production schedules.
Establish job goals for the maintenance workforce.
Manage and maintain backlog files of work orders awaiting scheduling in accordance with their priority and requested completion date.
Provide immediate insights into potential labor shortages (or excesses).
Help with keeping an optimal stock of spare parts and materials.
Develops and maintains planner reference systems including a file of Planned Job Packages, i.e., job plan for recurring jobs, plus labor and material libraries for each equipment center.
Identifies and obtains determinable materials, entering material needs on the work order's job plan. Determines if critical items are in stock by verifying availability with stores and reserving required items.
Perform equipment walk-downs. The physical walk-down includes documentation of each equipment asset, location, rigorous collection of nameplate specifications and equipment attributes such as manufacturer, model and serial numbers.
Incomplete, out-of-date and inaccurate equipment records are also updated.
Track and report the status and performance of maintenance activities using key performance indicators (KPIs).
Manages small site capital projects or continuous improvement projects.
Assist with the development of the project scope, budget and schedule.
Assist with the development and delivery of risk assessment of the new proposed projects that considers food safety and people safety.
Tracks approved capital projects budget and reports to maintenance manager and leadership team
Assists in establishing and communicating project schedules and deadlines for major capital projects undertaken at the site.
Assist with compiling and maintaining control records and related files used to release drawings and engineering documents to manufacturing, supports departments, and outside suppliers.
Manages and supervisor dedicated PM Maintenance Crew and / or team members directly assigned to report to this position.
Minimum Job Requirements :
Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other systems and components.
Proficient in using CMMS software and other computer applications, such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Project.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Associate degree in technical discipline or BS in Engineering preferred
Minimum 8 years of experience preferred in maintenance roles.
Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional certificate or equivalent preferred
Highly organized with great attention to detail and ability to adapt quickly to shifts in priorities and one-off requests.
Strong leadership and influencing skills.
Must be comfortable working independently with limited direction.

The position may require the ability to meet the physical demands of heavy lifting to carry out the assigned duties.
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
