Position Overview :

The Controller coordinates all daily aspects of the accounting department. They assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators with project costs.

The Controller processes financials for all entities and supplies owners and leadership with the necessary information to make informed strategic business decisions, and supervises the Accounting Team.

Role & Responsibilities :

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions
  • Prepare and coordinate financial statements and activities of external auditors
  • Provide the leadership team with the necessary financial information to make strategic business decisions
  • Direct the vision and strategy for optimum efficiency and accuracy; provide solutions and implement new processes for accounting to increase efficiency
  • Continually assess accounting operations, anticipate customer / employee needs, and make recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions with leaders of the organization
  • Encourage and train the accounting team to problem-solve and work as a team to provide and implement new ideas
  • Expert use of Viewpoint accounting software and trains others as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times with all business information, owner information and financial status of the company

Skills & Qualifications :

  • A 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Certified Public Accountant certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in using financial software and ERP systems. Experience with construction-specific software is a plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Compensation :

In addition to offering competitive base pay ($140,000-165,000), Catamount employees are eligible for additional incentives for merit / performance, profit sharing, new hire referrals, and business development commissions.
