Position Summary :
The Accounting Associate supports the financial operations of Rocky Mountain Communities, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions. This role is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable / receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mission-driven, and committed to supporting the financial integrity of our organization.
Key Responsibilities :
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare and post journal entries; maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and compliance.
- Support the preparation of grant reports and funding proposals by providing financial data.
- Assist with budget tracking and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate allocation of expenses.
- Maintain vendor files and ensure compliance with internal controls and procurement policies.
- Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
Qualifications :
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or affordable housing setting.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.Knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles (FASB, fund accounting) preferred.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Commitment to the mission of affordable housing and community development.Working Conditions :
