Position Summary :
The Granite State Organizing Project is a non-profit community organization, made up of religious organizations, labor unions and community groups serving New Hampshire.
The Housing Justice Outreach Worker works to support low income, immigrant and refugee communities to access services and benefits they deserve.
The Housing Justice Outreach Workers assist diverse community members to understand benefits such as the NH Emergency Rental Assistance, child tax credits or Earned Income Tax Credits and other programs.
The Housing Justice Outreach Workers will also teach volunteers the skills of civic engagement including public speaking, running meetings, door to door canvassing, turning problems into issues and campaign development and implement campaigns in support of family economic security.
The Outreach Workers will document all contacts with community members and the numbers of families assisted to apply for various programs or benefits.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Conduct one to one outreach and group sessions to inform community members about NH Emergency Rental Assistance, Earned Income Tax Credits, child tax credits and other benefits or program that are available to assist with pandemic recovery and family support.
- Provide application assistance to residents, groups of community leaders, faith communities, immigrant and refugee communities, and others;
- Build and sustain community partnerships among neighborhood residents, government officials, social service agencies, business owners and community stakeholders;
- Communicate effectively with communities, including immigrant and refugee leaders who do not speak English;
- Organize and facilitate meetings between public and elected officials and members of the faith, immigrant and refugee communities.
- Facilitate all data collection required including tracking of all door to door contacts, community trainings, phone or digital outreach, number of families assisted and other outcomes ;
- Preparation of written materials including agendas, flyers, meeting notes & memos;
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Qualifications & Requirements :
- Two to three years of experience working with diverse individuals in a community seting.
- Applicant must be fluent in Spanish & English.
- Must be an excellent communicator.
- Time management, computer and analycal skills required.
- Ability to work some evening and weekends are also required.
- Some attendance at night or weekend meetings will be required.
- Must have a car.
Compensation and Benefits :
- Salary of $40,000 per year, plus health and dental insurance,
- Paid sick leave and paid vacation.
- An exempt, full time posion and may require more than 40 hours of work per week.
