About The Community Learning Center :
The Community Learning Center (CLC) empowers a diverse community of adult learners to transform their lives and realize their potential through education, skills development, and community participation.
Students are predominantly low-income Cambridge residents; come from a variety of ethnic, linguistic, and racial backgrounds;
and are currently enrolled in English or Adult Basic Education classes or training.
About The Role :
The Program Assistant will join the Admin Team at the CLC to welcome staff, students and the public at the CLC, assist them with their inquiries and support the work the CLC does.
The position provides reception / customer service, data entry and general office support. We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, who will be a team player and will flourish in a welcoming and dynamic environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide front desk coverage : 2 days / week
- Process PT hiring paperwork, staff agreements, and key fobs to personnel
- Manage and distribute live payroll checks to staff
- Accurately collect and review timesheets for weekly payroll
- Provide administrative support and participate in Friends of the CLC board meetings (non-profit agency that supports the CLC)
- Create and distribute student IDs
- Provide general support to the admin dept and all the CLC programs
- Enter data in LACES (state database)
General :
- Participate in CLC meetings and professional development activities.
- Engage in ad hoc committees and Implementation Teams (i.e., Student Support, Staff Support, Outreach) to advance CLC's mission and core values.
- Other duties assigned as needed.

- Strong organizational skills and punctuality
- Confidentiality and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite)

- Experience with data collection and data entry, word processing, spreadsheets and office equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, WORKING CONDITIONS, WORK FLEXIBILITY AND ACCOMODATIONS :
- General office and classroom environment with air conditioning and fluorescent lighting; work to be performed onsite
- Job requires day and some evening work
- There is extensive computer use. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to lift and carry up to ten pounds of books and papers.
- Ability to answer phones and maintain multiple files
- Ability to travel to meetings within the city
- Be comfortable to work primarily in a standard office environment with moderate noise level, telephones, personal computers, printers, and other office equipment
