The University of California, Berkeley seeks a collaborative, equity-focused leader to serve as the next Assistant Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Chief of Staff (AVP / CoS) within the Graduate Division.

Reporting to , Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division, the AVP / CoS serves as senior advisor on Graduate Division-specific and campus-wide priorities, such as improving the graduate student experience;

diversity, inclusion, and campus climate issues; enhancing graduate student professional development opportunities; and overall support for the graduate student community.

Interfacing with a broad range of offices to support the activities of the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division, the AVP / CoS manages sensitive and confidential matters and develops strategies and solutions to address a wide range of issues.

The ideal candidate will be a deeply collaborative and equity-focused leader possessing the ability to establish division goals in alignment with mission and motivate others to achieve.

A bachelor’s degree and significant leadership and management experience in large, complex institutional environments is required.

An advanced degree is preferred.
