We have partnered with a F500 Retail company looking to bring on a Senior Real Estate Counsel to the team. This individual will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's growth and expansion initiatives by providing strategic legal counsel and guidance on real estate matters.
You will be responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of the company's real estate portfolio, including lease negotiations, property acquisitions and dispositions, zoning and land use issues, and property management matters.
You would be joining a collaborative legal team under excellent mentorship and leadership.
Responsibilities :
- Negotiate purchase and sale agreements (including sale-leasebacks) and subleases for disposition of surplus property; collaborate with and manage outside counsel handling sale transactions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate leases, purchase and sale agreements, ground leases, subleases, easements, covenants, conditions and restrictions, assignments and assumptions, financing and collateral documents such as guaranty, recognition and non-disturbance agreements, estoppels and other real estate documents.
- Handle all other real estate related legal issues, including issues arising from CAM and tax audits, collection of tenant improvement allowances, transfers of titles and deeds, lease, mortgage and covenant restrictions, construction, mechanics’ liens, mortgage concerns, eminent domain, condemnation and zoning.
Qualifications :
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- 10-12 years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating leases, purchase and sale agreements, subleases, estoppels, ground leases, and other real estate documents.
- Experience with shopping centers, malls, strip centers, stand-alone retail locations, warehouses, and distribution centers is required.
- Retail experience is a plus.
