Associate Director for Employer Relations

The Associate Director is part of Career & Experiential Learning, which is positioned under Academic Affairs and delivers a range of services, including career development, career readiness, international student support, and study abroad.

The Associate Director manages employer relations programs to enhance employer engagement, create opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and support student career readiness efforts.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, partners with academic departments, Student Affairs offices, Institutional Advancement, and the Center for Innovation to support and grow the Curry Connectors program.

Essential Functions :

1. Employer Relations Program Oversight (35%)

  • Develops opportunities for students and employers to engage with one another such as site visits, employer in residence, panels, and events.
  • Identifies ways for students to learn about and explore career opportunities available to them throughout their job search process;
  • Uses technology systems such as Handshake to deliver recruiting services and programs such as job postings, employer communications, career fairs, candidate resumes, and on-campus recruiting activities and events;
  • Leads in developing policy, rules, and regulations regarding employer relations operations. Also interprets trends and college-recruiting practices from business and industry in all matters pertaining to professional employment.
  • Recommends policies and processes in support of employer relations programs;
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director in the coordination of the Curry Connectors program. Develops recruitment strategy, provides direct customer service, liaises with campus partners seeking to engage Curry Connectors in the classroom or events and assists with tracking use of program benefits;
  • Oversees career fair offerings and event management. Works collaboratively with the Administrative Assistant and other campus partners in the planning and execution of career fairs, to include employer outreach, day of logistics, post event wrap-up, data collection, and assessment.

2. External Relationships (35%)

  • Establishes new employer contacts and strengthens current employer contacts through outreach activities such as cold calls, mass mailings, and individual employer meetings and visits;
  • Builds strategic relationships with various departments and programs to strengthen the employer recruiting experience and knowledge;
  • Conducts employer visits to identify hiring needs, promote Curry Commitment programs and services, and help promote students and alumni as a potential candidate pool;
  • Manages, guides, and improves Employer Relations and recruiting outcomes analytics. Ensures that appropriate data is available for stakeholders and provides recommendations as appropriate.
  • Analyzes student and alumni employment preferences and identifies target industries for career exploration and employer outreach efforts;
  • Attends business association events, conferences, or other activities related to employer relations that may require travel.

3. Outcomes and Data (15%)

  • Provides leadership for several surveys, including the annual summer experience survey, employment related surveys, and provides outcome data and information for accreditation and ranking institutions;
  • Administers and analyzes surveys such as the annual graduating student surveys and internship surveys;
  • Collaborates and liaises with other offices on projects, data sharing, procedures and policies;
  • Produces visual data reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders (e.g. infographics, videos, graphs, etc.).

4. General Responsibilities (15%)

  • Serves on college committees, councils and task groups. Engages in professional development and community activities to enhance the department's reputation;
  • Serves as a liaison to one or more academic programs, targeted populations, and / or student organizations. Maintains educational content online, identifies career-related materials and resources specific to the assigned area;
  • Provides general career services to students, including career advising and drop-in sessions, workshops and presentations, and special programming as needed;
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor of their designee.

Priority will be given to applications received by November 4, 2024; however, we will continue to review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

  • Experience developing and managing partnership and / or sponsorship programs with clients, employers, or customers.
  • Capacity for effective collaboration and communication with students, faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards, knowledge and appreciation of cross-cultural and bias issues, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to listen carefully and communicate tactfully.
  • Preferred computer skills include familiarity with career services technology and career services management systems.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students and help them develop their career plans.
  • Strong commitment to student career development and career readiness.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in emphasis in student affairs, human resource management, business or related field.
  • Three years of experience in a related business, recruiting, career office setting or human resources, relevant to employment recruiting.
  • Experience representing a college or university in large-scale programs and with employer partners, students, faculty, and alumni.
  • Supervision experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree preferably with an emphasis in student affairs, human resource management, business or related field is preferred.
  • Experience using career service technology such as Handshake and customer relationship management (CRM) tools

Salary Range :

$75,000-$80,000 annually
