The Academic Instructor provides instruction in basiceducation subjects such as mathematics, science, social studies,reading, writing and language arts, to help inmates / students learnskills that will contribute to their development as mature,responsible citizens.
The Academic Instructor maintains apositive learning environment, adopting secure classroom managementpractices, and develops level appropriate lessonplans.
Prepare course objectives followingcurriculum standards and applicable requirements bycontract
Plan a program of study, lessonplans, assignments, and tests under generalsupervision.
Provides instruction usingcourse outline, handouts and texts, audiovisual aids and othermaterials.
Administer tests to evaluatestudents' progress and competency with subjectmatter.
Assist students with individualizedinstruction asneeded.

Qualifications :
Graduate froman accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree isrequired.
A teachinglicense ispreferred.
Must possess orbe eligible for certification, license or other credentialsrequired by contract and / or state ofemployment.
Continuedemployment in this position will be contingent upon obtainingand / or maintaining required agency credentials.
Three years of classroom instructionexperience is preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Office applicationsis required.
A validdriver's license isrequired.
Minimum agerequirement : Must be at least 18 years ofage.
