Position Overview :
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Governance professional in a Data Management Lead (Contract) role to join our team on a hybrid basis in Pittsburgh, PA.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data governance and data management, with expertise in both traditional and emerging data technologies.
This individual will play a crucial role in overseeing the organization, integration, and maintenance of our client’s data governance program, ensuring stakeholder engagement while ensuring that data is accurate, reliable, and secure.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of data governance and management processes and systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop strategies to meet business needs.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identify, train, and align Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Quality staff for all data domains. Ensure Data Owners are available and participate in the oversight of data use, sharing, and ethical decisions on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Oversee the selection and utilization of data governance systems and tools, including data catalog, business data glossary, data lineage, data classification, metadata management, data quality and accuracy, reference data management, and master data management.
- Monitor and analyze data quality metrics, identifying and addressing issues in a timely manner.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in data management, recommending innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in data management roles, with a focus on data management and governance. Banking industry experience preferred.
- Strong executive communication experience and presence as well as a desire to delight the customer.
- Experience establishing and embedding robust data governance and control policies and processes.
- Strong understanding of data architecture. Hands-on experience with data modeling techniques and tools (e.g., Erwin, Visio) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Extensive experience communicating with C-Level Executives is a plus.
- Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading data management initiatives from inception to implementation.
- Change management expert with the ability to quickly gain stakeholder trust and participation.
- Strong data literacy understanding and ability to train others.
