The Arbors Assisted Living is currently hiring Care Specialist! We are looking for Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem Care Specialist.

Hours : 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.

Job Responsibilities :

Works in conjunction with the Wellness Director and Case Manager to assure the needs of the residents are being maintained.

Receives daily work assignments from supervisor to assist in resident care.

• Reports to the Wellness Director or Supervisor any observation of unusual appearance of behavior of residents
• Respects resident privacy by knocking and waiting for acknowledgement before entering residents room, by pulling curtains or blinds and by shutting doors to provide privacy when treating residents or assisting with ADL’s;

treats residents with dignity; explains procedures to resident before assisting him / her.

• Maintains confidentiality of necessary information.
• Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the community.
• Adheres to Customer Service Principles : respect, flexibility, knowledge, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness.

All responses should be timely, professional, caring and respectful.

Task Specific General :

• Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living, (ADL’s) personal care, including but not limited to nails, hair, oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, transferring, dressing and undressing as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of resident’s needs at all times. Notes any significant changes in the condition of residents and takes appropriate action.

Identifies emergency situations and responds with appropriate measures.

• Reviews 24 hour log regularly.
• Checks residents regularly to assure that personal care needs are met.
• Follows through with resident problems or needs by reporting to supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of resident need.
• Monitors residents’ attendance at meals and completes resident accountability report throughout the day.
• Assists Wellness Director in monthly weight recording as required.
• Takes residents’ temperatures as directed by Wellness Director.
• Encourages participation of the resident in activities planned and provided by the Community.
• Assists with recreational activities including effectively leading an activity as required.
• Brings residents to and from meals and activities when necessary.
• Follows all established Arcadia policies and procedures as well as adheres to New York State Department of Health regulations.
• Adheres to established infection control procedures including but not limited to the washing of hands before and after caring for each resident.
