Asset Strategy Leader

The Asset Strategy Leader (ASL) serves as the matrix leader with overall, enterprise wide accountability for an asset from discovery to end of life cycle.

Position can sit in Lake County, IL office or at one of our AbbVie locations.

Job grade / title will be determined based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Chairs an Asset Strategy Team (AST) and ensures alignment across the five core deliverable teams partnering effectively with the functional chairs of those subteams to ensure delivery of the asset.
  • Leads the effort to create, articulate, and gain endorsement of an integrated cross-functional strategy for all aspects of product development and commercialization.
  • Builds strong collaborative peer to peer relationships with governance team members and executives.
  • Reviews and analyzes emerging data objectively to lead or direct the Asset Strategy Team.
  • Has a deep understanding of the role and value of each function on the team.
  • Ensures that the AST continually validates the viability of the program.
  • Establishes close, ongoing ties with all team members and supporting teams.
  • Represents the AST at interactions with external parties.
  • Works with team members to maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the competitive environment.
  • Leads a single indication asset that is a significant revenue potential for AbbVie or a high-profile multiple indication asset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a pharmaceutical / biotech setting.
  • Exemplary strategic thinking, collaboration, facilitative leadership, executive function, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading a team in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to objectively exercise judgment and create pragmatic solutions.
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members from across functional areas.
  • Track record of strategic success leading assets or functions.
  • Able to lead independently with minimal managerial oversight required.
  • Ability to respectfully challenge team members and manage conflict.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

    The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.

  • Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location.
