Diesel Truck Mechanic will be responsible for a variety of tasks; including diagnostics, service repairs and preventative maintenance associated with maintaining a working fleet that meets DOT requirements.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, as well as execute the repairs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Diesel Truck Mechanic :

  • Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs
  • Collaborate with drivers to troubleshoot faulty equipment
  • Use technical knowledge to repair company vehicles properly and cost efficiently
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment including;

engine repair and chassis maintenance

  • Work independently on equipment that requires a high level of skill with hydraulics, electrical, and diagnostics
  • Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Estimate time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts
  • Respond to unscheduled service calls quickly and complete repairs efficiently
  • Maintain knowledge on existing equipment, as well as reading and understanding equipment manuals

Knowledge and Skill Requirements of Diesel Truck Mechanic :

  • 3+ years of working on diesel trucks
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Welding experience desired, but not required
  • Ability to multitask & juggle priorities
  • Problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude
  • Valid driver’s license
