Job Description : Director of Operations

Position Summary :

The Director of Operations is a critical communication and organizational link among staff, administration, parents, vendors and the board of directors.

The job of Director of Operations was established for the purpose of providing complex support for overall school operations ensuring the smooth running of all operational systems and processes.

The Director of Operations oversees student transportation, food service, technology, and vendor management, among other core functions of the central office.

All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and / or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning.

Position Responsibilities :

Customer Relations and Vendor Management

  • Establishes and maintains positive customer relationships with staff, parents, board, vendors, and community members.
  • Lead contract negotiations in regard to all managed vendor contracts
  • Negotiates / re-negotiates contracts with and manages performance of outsourced vendors related to the division.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationship with school lunch vendor
  • Coordinates and provides input in regards to school lunch services, schedules, and execution. Cultivate and maintain relationships with multiple Before and After Care providers who partner with Crossroads.

Transportation

  • Manage student transportation to ensure efficient operations and provide safe and quality services for our families.
  • Coordinates and provides input regarding student transportation services, routing, and scheduling for school activities.
  • Management of student transportation data within our student information system.

Technology

  • Directly manage Crossroads’ IT management vendor to ensure that students and staff have safe and reliable access to Crossroads’ network, devices and other resources identified as part of Crossroads’ Technology plan.
  • Management of technology purchasing, device inventory, and ensure data is up to date within our inventory system. Including student and staff devices as well as classroom technology.
  • Coordinates and provides input in regards to student devices with each school.

Supervision, Systems, and Compliance

  • Directly supervise and develop Campus Safety and Security Manager, Athletics and Attendance Manager, and Human Resources Director
  • Create framework and accountability for Athletic, Facilities, Security, and Human Resources departments.
  • Assists in the preparation of long-rang facility, security, and operational planning
  • Manage all construction projects
  • Keeps abreast of and interprets laws, regulations, statues, rules, and policies affecting Crossroads operations.
  • Oversees the budget for individual departments in the division as well as capital project budgets.
  • Attends and makes presentations at Board of Education meetings and other regular and special meetings as required.
  • Ensures that systems sufficiently support the goals of the District as defined by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
  • Contributes to the successful attainment of all goals and objectives as outlined by our sponsor and the Department of Elementary and Secondary education.
  • Board Management of minutes, agendas, documents, and communications.
  • Performs other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. Contributes to various collaborative meetings with the other department / division leadership in support of the school’s mission.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

COMMUNICATION : Maintains communication with district staff to enhance cooperative action which will meet the district’s needs to support the educational needs of students.

Completes accident / incident reports as required. Compiles data for the district’s statistical purposes. Maintains confidentiality regarding staff and educational records.

ORGANIZATION : Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Performs other related work as required.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of administrators and staff.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and parents / students / general public as appropriate.
