Salary $11.50 Hourly Location Duluth, MN Job Type Part-Time (Non-Union) Department Property, Parks, & Libraries Job Number A2154 Closing 6 / 15 / 2021 11 : 59 PM Central Summary / Purpose Provide delivery services for Duluth Public Library between its various branches and locations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) 1. Operate a vehicle to transport library materials to various locations.

2. Load and unload library materials and supplies.

3. Transport library materials and supplies.

4. Report incidents involving vehicle, materials, or equipment to supervisor.

5. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Age Requirement

A. Must be age 18 or older.

License Requirement

A. Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota driver's license or equivalent.

Knowledge Requirements

A. Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.

B. Knowledge of defensive driving techniques.

Ability Requirements

A. Ability to work independently.

B. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public.

C. Ability to communicate effectively.

D. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

E. Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Physical Ability Requirements

A. Ability to frequently bend and stoop, and to occasionally squat, crouch, and kneel to perform duties.

B. Ability to lift, load, and unload 40-60 containers of library materials, weighing approximately 26.5 pounds each (up to 50 pounds), during a three-hour shift.

C. Ability to frequently lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, such as boxes of books; and to occasionally lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.

D. Ability to push and pull (occasionally up and down small inclines), on varied surfaces including outside on concrete sidewalks and / or parking lots, a loaded delivery cart for distances of 40 feet or more at least six (6) times a day.

E. Ability to attend work as scheduled.

Selection Process Library Delivery Drivers are scheduled to work no more than 13 hours / week. They are considered non-bargaining unit employees and do not qualify for employee benefits.

HIRING TIMELINE

This position requires the following pre-employment requirements :

• Background check (including driving record)
• Drug Screening
• Breath Alcohol Test
• Pre-Work Screen Evaluation (physical)

The Library Delivery Driver position requires availability to work weekday mornings for approximately 2.5-3 hours each day.

Please list your regular work availability, Monday through Friday, between 8 : 30 a.m. and noon.
