Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s outstanding Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability.

The Life Extension 2 (LE2) team is an organization within the greater FBM program which supports the development of the Next Generation System by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the development of the next FBM Missile System.

As an Electrical Systems Integrator you will serve as a key interface between the requirements, design, subsystem engineering, system engineering, and production teams.

In this role you will :

  • Lead systems / hardware integration, test planning and implementation
  • Coordinate the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of Engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility
  • Provide independent review and cross-program coordination to ensure electrical and data subsystem designs and as-built products are compatible
  • Verify compliance with LE & LE2 product certifications at the system level,
  • Support Missile production and test activities at component manufacturers and the Strategic Weapons Facilities
  • Perform data reviews and provide feedback to test and integration teams
  • Find opportunities for build flow and test efficiencies

Basic Qualifications :

  • Experience in systems engineering or related engineering discipline with demonstrated systems engineering skills
  • Excellent leadership skills and whole systems thinking
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Integration functions which may include :

a.) System trade studies and / or System modeling

b.) Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development

c.) System Integration, Test and / or Verification

d.) Test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies

e.) Design reviews

US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Desired Skills :

  • 9+ years of experience in systems engineering or related engineering discipline with demonstrated systems engineering skills
  • Experience with spacecraft / missile design, development, integration, or test, with broad based and in-depth knowledge of space, missile and launch systems at the component through system level
  • Validated understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
  • System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)
  • Experience with telemetry systems, flight operations, and / or electrical design
  • Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
  • Experience ensuring the physical and functional compatibility of hardware products throughout the full life cycle of the program
  • Demonstrated experience of good judgment and programmatic implementation vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent social skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams, create meaningful relationships with team members and shape consensus among peers
  • Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) or Delegate CPE for electronics packages or similar and Engineering Material Review (EMRB) experience;

ability to interact with hardware CPEs and designers to ensure mission requirements are satisfied

  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
  • Active Secret or Top Secret DoD security clearance.

Ability to Work Remotely : Part-time Remote Telework : The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules : Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position : 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate :

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $100,400 - $192,500.

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.

Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees : accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons;
  • receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually;

receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
