The Opportunity

As a data engineer at Booz Allen, you'll perform data architecture planning and implementation, including database development, extract-transform-load (ETL) processes, and data management operations.

You will implement scalable and sustainable data engineering solutions using tools, including Python, Kafka, and Nifi, and write custom code for data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation.

You'll work with other members of the project team to support delivery of additional project components, build and operationalize complex and innovative data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and quality validation solutions.

Here, you’ll work with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

This role is more than just coding. We need a software engineer to join a development team, who will use their passion to learn new tools and techniques and identify needed system improvements.

You’ll analyze the needs and the environment to help the solution team consider the architecture and operating environment, including future functionality and enhancements, then engineer the right solution to realize high impact and client success.

You Have :

5+ years of experience with Python, including developing, running, and testing Python scripts

5+ years of experience with the entire ETL pipeline, including data acquisition, data prep, and database architecture

1+ year of experience with Kafka or NiFi development

Experience creating software for retrieving, parsing and processing structured and unstructured data

Experience creating solutions within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment

Ability to develop assorted scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and support project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms

Secret clearance

Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have :

Experience with a public cloud, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud

Experience with data engineering projects supporting data science and AI and ML implementations

Experience with containerization tools, including Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, or AWS EMR

Experience working on real-time data and streaming applications

Experience with NoSQL implementation using MongoDB or Cassandra

Experience with data warehousing, including AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake

Experience with UNIX and Linux, including basic commands and Shell scripting

Experience with Agile engineering practices

Clearance :

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
