The Leader in Training (LIT) and Floor Leader position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement : "To create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." The LIT and Floor Leader performs a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Works directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership.

Sales Generation and Guest Service

  • Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, and provide legendary service to each Guest
  • Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
  • Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires
  • Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with Team
  • Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
  • Remain consistent on personal sales, and look for opportunities to impact Teammates' presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG)
  • Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management
  • Provide legendary service throughout the store in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area
  • Knowledgeable of all exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities
  • Fill out and effectively use the SPG daily to accomplish goals
  • Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty activities
  • Investigate and navigate how to expand Guest selection through inventory management tools
  • Maintain and build good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
  • Lead by example with a high level of showmanship, customer service and attentiveness
  • Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the Team
  • Ask business-driven and showmanship questions to Manager, Team Leaders and all Teammates
  • Be coached by Manager to learn in sales presentation
  • Consistently perform leadership actions and maintain high standards, whether or not the Manager is present

Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development

  • Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals and Teammate Recommend
  • Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new Teammates to meet Buckle's standards
  • Maintain a positive attitude and create a positive floor culture
  • Demonstrate personal dress code to encourage fashion in Teammates and Team Leaders
  • Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracking
  • Motivate Teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks
  • Demonstrate denim showmanship and denim fit card results through Teammates and Guests
  • Balance department results with leadership actions and mid-week reviews
  • Demonstrate leadership actions during segment : awareness of Guests, involve guests with product, communicate updates, collect Guest names
  • Visual Merchandise Management

  • Own and influence product through zone ownership including product knowledge, placement and lifecycle
  • Recognize zones and assign projects with learning goals
  • Ensure adherence to Visual Standards and weekly checklists
  • Execute new tools and videos related to zone ownership
  • Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations to the Store Manager
  • Conduct store tours and ensure the sales floor is appropriately displayed
  • Operations

  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as needed
  • Understand and utilize planning tools, including Opening and Closing Checklists
  • Watch for and address security risks and Loss Prevention guidelines
  • Handle returns and exchanges per Buckle guidelines
  • Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with Guests or Teammates
  • Navigate store tools and systems on the home page
  • Provide guidance to non-sales positions
  • Complete scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed
  • Provide feedback to Store Manager and Leadership Team on merchandise handling concerns
  • Report policy violations and concerns in a timely, confidential manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized and shoppable store aligned with Buckle's mission statement
  • Understand and apply Buckle's Code of Ethics and policies
  • Supervisory and Leadership

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from peers and Management
  • Support Leadership and promote personal and store growth
  • Demonstrate professional, mature and stable relationships with Teammates
  • Fulfill the mission by performing duties with high customer service and a positive team spirit
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Education And / or Experience

    High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related retail experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The Teammate must regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, and may climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs is required. Vision requirements include near, far, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

    Retail store setting with a moderate noise level.
