What Your Job Will Be Like :
We are seeking a year round electrical engineering intern to support research in advanced mechanical transduction technologies for power and data transmission and sensing.
On any given day, you may be called on to :
- Support research staff to develop novel actuation and / or communication devices and methods
- Perform research related to piezoelectric and magnetostrictive actuators
- Characterize devices and systems and develop technology demonstrations
- Analyze data and document results (in reports or journal papers)
- Become familiar with selected novel devices and develop practical laboratory skill

Qualifications We Require :
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements :
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
- Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 / 4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S.
Qualifications We Desire :
- Completed advanced circuit design undergraduate courses with practical electrical circuit design experience
- Experience with power electonics and switching amplifiers
- Experience operating in a research laboratory environment with basic knowledge of laboratory safety and test equipment operation
- Experience with basic electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators)
- Programming knowledge required for data analysis and automated data acquisition (Matlab / Python / C)
- Experience working with general laboratory test equipment and data acquisition systems
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently to solve challenging problems
- Strong writing and communication skills (for reporting technical results in meetings)
