The anticipated salary range is $90,000.00 to $130,000.00 for a candidate who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience to the job, education, and certifications.

Academics

  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
  • Accountable for moving teacher instructional practice and their Scholars’ academic achievement by owning academic achievement in specific grades or content areas while partnering with the other leaders on the leadership team to effectively manage the school.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to plan and execute curriculum and instruction that fosters scholar growth, creativity, and agency through aligned, culturally relevant materials and pedagogy.
  • Promotes and develops strong teams that collaborate towards improving academic and social outcomes for all scholars.
  • Directly and indirectly, observes and coaches instructional staff, team meetings, and professional development leading to scholar achievement.

Leadership

  • Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school.
  • Assists in providing leadership to professional staff in determining objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for developing short and long-range plans for the school.
  • Assumes the duties of the Principal in the absence of the Principal and as assigned.
  • Meeting with parents to discuss scholar behavioral or learning opportunities for growth.
  • Responding to disciplinary issues in conjunction with the Director of School Culture.
  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of designated certificated and / or classified personnel; assigns duties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives.
  • Promotes a school environment that is safe.
  • Managing all school assessments in conjunction with other Assistant Principals and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the School Leadership Team to continuously improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment, and scholar achievement, as well as the overall goals and mission of the school and the network.
  • Provide a wide variety of learning opportunities for teachers focused on analyzing scholar work, effective planning, targeted and differentiated instruction, as well as high expectations for classroom culture and behavior.
  • Observe teachers weekly to gather data on scholar learning and teacher proficiency to diagnose teachers’ strengths and weaknesses constantly and determine strategies for improving their practice and improving scholar learning.
  • Develop, implement and lead a high quality testing preparatory program for college entrance and Regents exams.

  • Builds strong teams, develops leadership capacity among staff, and shares responsibilities appropriate.
  • Develops school culture and practices that rely on data to inform adult learning, professional development, and decision making.
  • Develops and maintains positive staff morale.
  • Establishes systems that promote learning, collaboration, and communication throughout the school.
  • Listens to and responds appropriately to staff, scholars, parents, and community concerns.
  • Maintains high visibility in the school at all times.
  • Leads a school culture and environment that successfully develops the full range of scholars' learning capacities academic, creative, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Communicate effectively with scholars and staff.
