Description
POSITION PURPOSE : Greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant while maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Meet and greet guests as they arrive, gather information such as name, check guest's reservations or log them in as set up.
Ensure even distribution of tables for each server.
2. Politely take guests to table, hand them menus and inform them who their server will be, inform them of specials and leave with a courteous greeting.
Receive, record, and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant.
Assists wait staff and bus staff as needed.
Assist with all to-go orders.
Participate in setting up of dining room and buffets.
Act as a cashier for Dining Room.
Process cash / checks payments.
Answer phones and maintain voicemail.
Responsible for coat check.
Thank all guests graciously and invite them to return.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
Clean all menus before, during and after shift.
Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to read, speak, and write the English language, to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, and reservations.
Ability to remember, recite, and promote a variety of menu items.
Ability to move through a crowded room to seat guests.
Relay important reservation requests to servers.
Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
No prior experience required. Prior hospitality experience preferred.
Ability to multi-task and self-motivate during slow periods.
Ability to work POS system.
Computerized Reservation System handling.

Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations.
Ability to interact with adults and children in a professional manner.
Cash handling experience preferred.
