About The Position
Position Name : Radiology Technologist
Total Positions (5) : 2 Ultrasound, 2 CT Techs, and 1 General X-Ray
Location : Memphis VA Medical Center, Memphis, TN
Certifications Needed : BLS, ACLS
Ultrasound Technologists shall be certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
The MRI and CT Techs shall have their advance registry by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
Must have >

Shift Timings : Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 am-4 : 30 p.m.
App Start date : Around Mid May 2023
Employees must stay within a 30-minute radius of the client facility to perform urgent / emergency procedures when the employee is on-call .
Off-hours Coverage : Monday through Friday 4 : 30 pm - 8 : 00 am and Friday through Monday 4;30 pm - 8 : 00 am. Technologist(s) must be available on-call during all hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
On-call technologists must be available within 15 minutes by phone and on-site within 60 minutes
Job Description :
General duties required for Ultrasound Technologist :
Independently performs standard examinations. Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures, and rearranges patients scheduled to accommodate them.
Maintains records and image files of patients examined. Cross-indexes interesting cases for teaching purposes. Performs studies of the liver, gallbladder, pelvis, spleen, pancreas, abdominal aorta, using real time techniques to evaluate the structures for size, abnormal contour, cysts and various pathologic disorders.
Performs Doppler examinations of the portal vein, IVC, scrotum and kidneys. Effectively uses Doppler to supplement the examinations of other organs when needed.
Performs vascular studies of the extremities upper and lower (venous). Performs studies of the kidneys, adrenal glands, nodes and urinary bladder using real time gray scale techniques to perform examinations for detection of renal cysts and tumors, adrenal masses, lymph node enlargement, retro peritoneal hematomas, abscesses and abnormalities of the urinary bladder.
Requires knowledge of image acquisition in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Shifts will vary. Call is required.
General duties required for Computed Tomography Technologist :
Requires specific knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in spiral, and / or multi-slice computer tomography, inclusive of 3-D reconstruction scans, including drainages, biopsies, and a peripheral vascular examination.
- The technologist requires specific knowledge and training in the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to radiological illumination;
- to interpret the examination request accurately; to understand the functioning and inter-relationship of the various organs;
to use the methods and techniques which will identify organs appearing on the digital display monitor, or on film, and the various stages of the examination to judge the acceptability of the image and / or scan for diagnostic use and to emphasize the aspects of particular interest to the physician.
Requires knowledge of image acquisition in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Shifts will vary.
General duties of MRI :
Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) of the head, neck spine, chest and body.
These exams are performed with and without use of contrast materials. The purpose of these exams is to achieve diagnostic studies so that proper diagnosis and treatment may be effectuated.
Requires additional knowledge of super conducting magnets, the physics of superconducting magnets, and how they relate to the human anatomy in medical imaging.
The technologist must be educated in the safety factors governing a magnetic environment that patients, visitors, and equipment The practitioner must have specific specialized knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and how it relates to the soft tissues and vessels of the human body.
The technologist must also have specialized knowledge in the radio-frequency surface coils required for each specific anatomical area to be imaged.
The technologist requires knowledge of image acquisition in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). Shifts will vary. Call is required.
General duties for X-Ray Tech :
Performs radiographic examinations of the skull torso and extremities for routine physical examinations. Has the knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and cross-sectional anatomy, recognizes unusual images, and determining proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest.
Performs radiographic exams at the bedside and in the operating rooms providing diagnostic x-rays to the surgeons and professional staff on patients that are unable to be x-rayed in the Radiology Service due to incapacity or surgical procedures.
using portable x-ray units and mobile fluoroscopic units to achieve these exams. Upon request, operates the fluoroscopic unit in the cysto suite.
