The Core Laboratory is currently recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician for our midnight shift. This position

performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS.

The Core Laboratory is comprised of multiple testing areas- Chemistry, Toxicology, Blood Gas Analysis, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Automated Hematology and Manual Hematology, including Smear Review and Body Fluid Analysis, and Specimen Processing

Standard Hours :

Sunday night to Friday morning, 11 : 30pm to 8am, with 1 in 4 weekends and rotating holidays.

Alternative schedules are available and can be discussed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following-

Ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory

Work alongside coworkers to ensure good patient care and customer service

Resolving issues and complaints

Answering questions and providing technical strength for troubleshooting and problem solving at the bench level

Triaging assignments to staff based on coverage needs

Ensuring all laboratory quality indicators are met

Developing a coverage plan and notifying team members in case of call outs

Resolving, documenting, and communicating problems that arise during shift

Acting as a role model and advocate for compliance with policies and procedures

Serving as a contact for outside departments and customers

Education Requirements :

Requires Bachelor's of Science degree.

Licensure / Certification Requirements :

Requires MLS / MT (ASCP), MT (NCA), or MT (AMT) certification.

Professional Experience Requirements :

Requires two years of experience at the medical laboratory technologist, medical laboratory technician, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist level.

Education Requirements :

Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.

Licensure / Certification Requirements :

• If Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, then must be ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year.
• If Associate's degree in chemical or biological science, Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification (BOC) required.

MTI Salary Range : $24.13- $34.70 (Hiring Range)

MLT Salary Range : $20.88 - $30.02 (Hiring Range)
