About The Position

Job Title : Mammography Technologist I

Experience : Minimum of 1 year experience in performing mammography preferred.

License : ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology and current state license as a Radiographer required.

Certifications : Advanced certification through ARRT in Mammography required within 12 months of hire.

Must-Have : Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.

Description :

Performs mammographic exams.

Responsible for identifying and resolving issues related to images, equipment, and quality control.

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with clinical staff, students, and patients.

Performs breast imaging-related exams according to medical and department standards.

Imaging is performed to obtain diagnostic quality examinations within proper radiation safety and OSHA guidelines.

Exams are performed efficiently with minimal delay between patients following established protocols.

Expected to consistently meet the schedule and quality requirements for all exams.

Operates mammography department equipment according to established protocols.

Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions or other technical issues.

Prepares the exam room prior to the next patient's arrival to promote department efficiency.

Prepares the patient for the exam by providing a clear explanation of the procedure and answering their questions.

Provides appropriate instructions and positioning to obtain maximum image quality.

Addresses patient questions and concerns regarding mammography and breast procedures.

Assists and thanks the patient at the conclusion of the exam.

Produces high-quality images and ensures that all images are appropriately labeled and identified.

Recognizes normal anatomy and physiology and adjusts the imaging process as needed.

Assures that all applicable images are archived to the system, maintaining data integrity.

Performs reconciliation accurately and completely without follow-up.

Assists other technologists and medical staff with image quality concerns.

Demonstrates proficiency in relevant information systems.

Accurately enters and schedules orders, checks in patients, begins and ends exams, and documents notes.

Performs end-of-day reconciliation for all exams performed.

Looks for opportunities to increase department efficiency and promote a cohesive working environment.

Regularly stocks supplies and linen, removes dirty linen, and cleans work areas.

Ensures exam rooms are clean and organized for the next staff member and patients.

Supports functions of the Lead and Quality Assurance technologist.

Assists with routine quality control and scheduling patients.

Provides a positive teaching environment for co-workers and new staff.

Completes all required documentation in a timely and efficient manner.

Prevents potential problems by using intuitive skills and multitasking.

Provides assistance to medical staff during all mammography exams.

Demonstrates an understanding of infection control and maintains cleanliness.

Maintains exam areas in accordance with infection control guidelines.
