Summary :
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinicalsetting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness ofall relevant aspects of a situation.
Provides routine and complexcare, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continuesto develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies ofclinical nursing.
Makes appropriate assignments and delegates toother care providers as a means to help manage the clinicalsituation.
Requirements :
A. Education / Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing,preferred.
B.Experience
- 1 year ofexperience in the related nursing specialtypreferred.
- Critical Care / EmergencyDepartment experience preferred.
C.Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications
- BLSrequired
- RN License in state ofemployment or compact
- Current PALScertification at time of hire or within 12 weeks of hire forexperienced RNs or completion by the end of the clinicalorientation period for new graduate nurses.
Maintain certificationthereafter.
Current ACLS certification at timeof hire or within 12 weeks of hire for experienced RNs orcompletion by the end of the clinical orientation period for newgraduate nurses.
Maintain certification thereafter.
Current TNCC and ENPC certification within 12 months ofhire for experienced RNs or completion within 18 months of hire fornew graduate nurses.
Maintain certification thereafter.
Current NIHSS certification at time ofhire or within 90 days of hire for experienced RNs or completionwithin 12 months of hire for new graduate nurses.
Maintaincertification thereafter.
- Moderate Sedation within 3 months of hire forexperienced RNs or within 12 months of hire for new graduatenurses. Maintain certification annually.
- De-escalation training within 90 days of hire and maintain trainingas indicated per program.
- Completion of anevidence based triage curriculum at :
12 monthsof hire for new graduate or inexperienced RNs (less than 1 year ofnursing experience)
3 months of hire forexperienced RNs (more than 1 year of nursing experience)
Current Arrhythmia recognition at time of hire or within8 weeks of hire for experienced RNs or completion within 6 monthsfor new graduate nurses.
