This position reports to

Quality & Operations Excellence Manager

Your role and responsibilities

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through various projects. Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed.

You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and enhancing personal education / employment opportunities.

The work model for the role is onsite in New Berlin, Wisconsin Please note that no relocation assistance or stipend will be offered for this position.

Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office location. Candidates are expected to manage their own commuting arrangements.

You will be mainly accountable for :

  • Safety - Responsible for identifying and improving safety at the site through use of technology, work cell redesign, improved ergonomics, and other means.
  • Quality - Responsible for helping to deliver world class quality by writing work instructions, completing PFMEAs, setting up FAI / inspection criteria, poke-yoke, error proofing, and managing ECNs and CAPAs as they arise.
  • Delivery - This role will be responsible for delivering capacity improvements to the operations by identifying and executing projects to remove bottlenecks and meet customer demand.
  • Lean - Execute Lean Manufacturing concepts through time studies, balancing assembly operations, value stream mapping, 3P new production lines or changes, implementing poke-yoke, and driving improvements to material scheduling, delivery, and presentation at the site.
  • Project Management - The individual will be responsible for planning and executing multiple projects at the same time and utilizing good project management skills by managing risk, understanding critical path and dependencies to meet project goals on time.
  • Change Management - This individual will lead change at the site and must work collaboratively with stakeholders, manage phase in / phase out of changes, have robust follow through on changes to ensure success.

Be able to see opportunities for improvement, put together a financial business case and project plan to initiate the change.

Qualifications for the role

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or related engineering / science field, in the United States.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions
  • Effectively organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Collaborate with team members to convey ideas, share information, and provide updates on project progress
