Summary : Under general direction of a principal, provides leadership in an educational environment that encourages and nurtures learning for all students.

Provides supervision to students in a variety of school related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, develops, selects or modifies lessons plans to ensure all student needs are met, and maintains appropriate records and follows all policies and procedures of NCDPI and CMS.

Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Information Technology / Civil and Industrial Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing;

assesses and encourages student progress, manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.

Essential Duties : (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

Demonstrates and teaches Information Technology in a classroom setting using detailed drawings that include project specifications and cost estimates

Designs and executes engineering experiments to create workable solutions

Develops engineering calculations, diagrams and technical reports.

Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in Information Technology activities and modifies instructional methods to fit student's individual needs.

Continues to participate in professional development to stay knowledgeable of current developments in the Information Technology field.

This includes, but is not limited to, attending seminars, workshops, and / or participating in professional learning communities (PLC).

Prepares instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards, maintains equipment, supplies, and other resources and maintains inventory records in accordance with district policies and procedures.

Works with staff and post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways, which prepare students for apprenticeship, certification, community college, or university degree programs.

  • Coordinate CTE Student Organization activities for local, regional, state and / or national competition
  • Attend District PLC meetings as scheduled

Works with employers and community groups to promote and advance technical skills.

Creates an instructional environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Communicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents. Meets with students and parents.

Maintains complete and accurate student academic, attendance, and disciplinary records. Monitors and assesses students' academic progress.

Collaborates with school administrators, other teachers, para-educators, parents, and community members in the education of students.

  • Instructs and demonstrates proper safety practices, procedures and standards.
  • Collaborates in the identification, development, implementation and coordination of work study arrangements
  • Demonstrates techniques to students as a group and one-on-one, helping them to complete lessons, assignments, projects, activities and evaluations.
  • Provides students with clear expectations, continual feedback, and logical consequences.
  • Provides students with opportunities to expand their skills and knowledge base
  • Participates in field trips to post-secondary institutes, worksites, businesses and hands-on workshops
  • Manages inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and tools
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Passing the NC SBE Licensure Area Exam

Completion of NCSBE Pre-service Requirements

Required Years of Work Experience for the CTE Restricted route : 2 years within past 5 years

Examples of Related Work Experience : for manufacturing? industry demonstrated experience in the production manufacturing field;

for cabinetmaking / woodworking? industry demonstrated experience in the

cabinetmaking field or woodworking field; for electronics? industry demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronics components in the electronics industry;

for metals manufacturing industry demonstrated experience in the metals manufacturing field such as machinist work, mechanical engineering with demonstrated

performance of metals machining task, or tool and dye

40 Hour Induction beginning Year One

Licensing / Certification Requirements :

Technology Engineering and Design Education 820 License (acquired by successfully passing the Technology Education Praxis Exam)

Obtained the Technology Education - Project lead the Way Endorsement (6-12), prior to July 1,2018

Physical Requirements : Work requires the ability to bend, stand, and walk in a school culinary arts laboratory for extended periods on a daily basis.

Requires lifting and moving equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Manual dexterity also required.
