Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Social Policy and Causal Methods

The Department of Health Policy and Management in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health is seeking applicants for an Assistant-Professor-level tenure-track position in Social Policy and Causal Methods.

Graduating doctoral students, post-doctoral scholars, and current Assistant Professors are encouraged to apply. The department is particularly looking for researchers who focus on how social policy and social conditions, outside of the health care system, impact public and population health.

Sample areas include policies involving labor, income, discrimination, education, housing, immigration, and climate change.

This top-rated Department is a leader in population health policy education and research.

The applicant may have a US-focus or another single-country focus, an international and comparative, or global focus. Applicants must have a strong record or demonstrate potential to establish a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

Responsibilities : The new faculty member will teach courses and conduct research in one or more areas of social policy and causal methods including but not limited to population health policy, social policy and causal methods for assessing public policy impact, social policy and health equity, and related areas.

Qualifications : Qualifications include a strong record of research (commensurate with the rank of appointment sought) and an earned doctorate in public policy, social policy, health policy, economics, social epidemiology, political science, sociology, urban planning, social welfare or other relevant discipline at the time of appointment.

Salary : The posted UC Salary Scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and / or step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $78,200-$101,400, negotiable based on experience.

This position is a 9-month, hard money, and tenure-track. Salaries must be approved by the Chancellor. Consistent with recent hires, and based on experience, it is expected that this base amount will be supplemented by an additional 50-55% off-scale rate, equal to a maximum off-scale range of $121,200 to 157,200.

This salary does not include other components of pay raised through extramural funds, which would yield compensation that is higher than this range.
