Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner - 127 West 25th Street

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Patient evaluation and treatment, medication management, case conferencing and in-service training to the staff. Provide emergency first aid / CPR assistance when needed.

Related duties assigned. Report to the Medical Director.

QUALIFICATIONS :

NYS Certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. Have prior experience working with a MICA population. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.

HOURS :

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday; 9 : 00am-5 : 30pm

This position will work 3 days out of Fred Cooper SASC and 2 days out of CDCC.

Vaccination preferred but not required.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION :

The Fred Cooper Substance Abuse Service Center (SASC), which is licensed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and funded by Medicaid and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, serves people with alcohol and substance abuse problems who are homeless or marginally housed.

SASC also has services specifically designed for clients who are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse.

One of a number of BRC's low-threshold programs, SASC provides the setting and support necessary for severely dysfunctional chronic alcoholics and other substance abusers with poor treatment histories to have a reasonable chance of attaining long-term sobriety and stability in their lives.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION :

BRC's Chemical Dependency Crisis Center (CDCC) offers 32-beds of medically monitored and medically supervised withdrawal services in an inpatient setting for men and women.

The CDCC program provides 24-hour nursing coverage, individual and group motivational counseling, didactic health and substance abuse education, therapeutic activities and institutional twelve-step programs.

The medically supervised beds are new to BRC's CDCC.
