Job Summary : Job Summary :

Vontas is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering and cloud architecture, with a passion for designing, implementing, and managing scalable and secure network solutions. This is a customer facing role which involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of network and cloud services, optimizing performance, and enhancing security. The position will focus on integrating and enhancing connectivity solutions for public transit systems and integrating with complex CAD / AVL Systems, Third-party applications, APIs, and custom software applications within a customer's organization for projects, ensuring the Company solutions meet the customer needs.

Additionally, this role will be responsible for advanced troubleshooting and supporting the team for escalations and major issues. This role reports to the Sr. Manager of Technical Delivery.

Job Description :

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Design, Implement, and Manage complex network infrastructure and work with cloud solutions.
  • Implement and manage VPN solutions, manage firewall rules and security policies to ensure secure and reliable remote access and interconnectivity between cloud and on-premises environments
  • Utilize Area Point Name (APN) to enhance network performance and service quality by integrating application requirements into network operations
  • Integrate with complex CAD / AVL (Computer-Aided Dispatch / Automatic Vehicle Location) systems, Third-party applications, and APIs to provide real-time vehicle tracking, driver performance metrics, and route adherence details
  • Work with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Ansible).
  • Design and implement secure and high-performance wireless network solutions (Wi-Fi 6 / 6E, wireless controllers, access points).
  • Work closely with external customers, project managers, developers, IT, Sales, key stakeholders, and support teams
  • Perform project requirement analysis, capture, and support solution adaptation.
  • Participate in technical response to RFPs, RFQs, and other client solicitations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client requirements and company capabilities.
  • Apply testing methodologies and quality assurance practices to ensure the reliability and performance of integrated systems
  • Lead workflow process and configuration sessions with customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Travel up to 50% of the time (including domestic and international), for customer site visits, trainings and meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Proficiency in network security best practices and tools.
  • Ability to design and manage network solutions that ensure seamless connectivity in mobile and stationary transit spaces.
  • Ability to perform disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including RTO, High Availability, and RPO metrics.
  • Familiarity with VPN solutions and their implementation in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills for coordinating with customers and internal teams, both remotely and in person.
  • Ability to self-learn and seek out knowledge on new systems, including other 3rd party systems that may be in place at a customer site.

    • Education and Experience :

  • Post-secondary education in the area of Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and / or equivalent combination of education / experience. Equivalent combination in lieu of degree would include an additional of 4 years of related experience with network engineering, cloud architecture, or similar technical roles.
  • Ability to understand advanced MS Windows, Linux, and applications including remote desktop, command prompt and PowerShell..
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNA , CCNP, Azure, AWS, etc.) are preferred but not required.
  • Experience with cellular communications, Mobile Gateway Routers, and Wi-Fi technologies in public transit environments is preferred but not required.

    • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer / laptop.
  • Ability to travel (including domestic and international), sometimes for extended periods, which may involve sitting during transit and walking at various locations. This role requires travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to life up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to handle high utilization of hand and wrist dexterity.
  • Ability to work in cramped and elevated spaces like network closets and ability to work on a ladder to access mobile networking cabinets.
