Staff Software Engineer (Embedded Systems)
RESPONSIBILITIES :

The following job duties outline the position requirements and are subject to change from time to time as business conditions dictate at the discretion of the Manager :
- Develop software solutions by studying product issues and customer needs.
- Document and demonstrate solutions following company standards and methods.
- Stay close to the leading edge of development practices by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment.
- Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers to achieve goals.
- Improve processes at ATX by observing our behavior and recommending change to the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS :
The team member will possess the following qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field combined with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, OR a Master’s Degree in computer science or related field, OR a PhD in computer science or related field.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent analytical and empirical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to multitask and accommodate change.
- Proven strong Modern C++ skills.
- Experience with Linux on larger embedded systems (1GHz+, 250MB+), including Openembedded / Yocto Project.
- Optionally experience with digital video : MPEG Transport Stream, DVB, ATSC.
- Optionally experience with IP Networking, including VLANs, UDP, and Multicast.
SUPERVISION :
This position does not directly supervise staff but may act as a team technical lead on projects and provide mentorship or instruction.
FINANCIAL :
This position does not have direct financial management responsibilities.
TRAVEL :
This position requires you to come into the San Diego office only once a week.
