Assistant Manager, RISD Store

RISD Store is seeking a new Assistant Manager. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of the RISD Store

The Store Assistant Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the department's daily operations run smoothly and contributes to overall success.

Instrumental in guiding the established service philosophy prioritizing a welcoming and supportive customer experience. Additionally, they engage in refining operational policies and foster a cohesive and effective team environment by providing training reinforcement, creating opportunities for engagement, and nurturing inclusivity.

Involved in supporting business processes related to products and services, including product sourcing, buying, assisting with product presentation and marketing efforts in alignment with the esteemed Art and Design School.

Essential Functions / Duties :

Ensures effective delegation of tasks by aligning responsibilities and cross-training team members to enhance their abilities.

Providing daily support, direction, and guidance to retail team members to ensure compliance with all standards of operation.

Assists in the administrative tasks associated with the procurement process by creating purchase orders, managing order quantities, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery.

Support initial and ongoing training for the team, including initiating OPUS training plan, providing clear communication and feedback, and assisting with onboarding to develop a high-performing team.

Participates in diversity and inclusion training to evolve professionally and positively influence workplace culture.

Supports the identification of new product trends for buyer consideration.

Creates appealing POS displays to drive sales, enhances the customer experience, and contributes to overall user experience by assisting with product setup across POS and eCommerce platforms.

Ensures compliance with PCI standards for system usage.

Assists in managing inventory levels to ensure stock availability and promptly addresses any vendor challenges.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience :

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with a minimum of 3 years of hospitality experience and at least 1 year of managerial experience, is preferred, with proven success in leading teams.

Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate, coach, and develop a team.

Deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrating professionalism and respect even under pressure while addressing challenging situations with team members and customers.

Ability to address operational challenges, resolve conflicts, make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, and administer and ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.

Experience in buying, inventory management, merchandising, and visual presentation is preferred.

Strong knowledge of computers and experience with Office and Google Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Experience :

Art and design background preferred with knowledge of art supply application

Computer experience is preferred.
