JobSummary

The Registered Nurse(RN) functions under the supervision / leadership of the nursemanager or an Administrative Supervisor.

The RN assumesaccountability for the delivery of direct and indirectpatient-centered nursing care for the patients assigned to the RNfor a specified period of time.

Following a competency based formalorientation, competent performance is expected. The RN mustunderstand and use the nursing process.

Must be able to criticallythink and be self directed to manage patient care. Must be able tocollaborate and negotiate with team members.

Must be able topatient (and / or families) teach to all age levels. Must be able tocommunicate effectively to health care providers, families, andpatients and other involved providers, i.

e. law enforcement, EMS,Crisis intervention team members, other healthcare workers. Musthave strong customer services skills and be adept withcommunication to collaborate with patients / families / visitors andother departments / facilities.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required,including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges ofNursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing(ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for NursingEducation Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Bachelor s Degree in nursingpreferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RNlicense with the State Board of Nursing in Minnesota. Obtains andsubsequently maintains required department specific competenciesand certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and AdvancedCardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Requiredcertifications on hire or within six months may include : AdvancedCardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course(TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Management ofAggressive Behavior (MOAB).
