You will need to balance autonomy and interdependence to support the team in delivering high-quality, safe products that are used by naval, shipyard, and laboratory personnel.

This position will involve the use of state-of-the-art methods to predict radiation fields in a variety of situations. There is a strong team of trained personnel that will support you during your development as an expert in the radiation shielding field.

You will be expected to seek out mentorship from experienced colleagues. Opportunities for travel to shipyards and Naval Reactors Program sites are also available.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field;

or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.Preferred Skills

  • Preferred degree in Nuclear Engineering or Nuclear Physics.
  • Radiation modeling experience using combinatorial geometry or surfaces.
  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, etc.) for modeling or data analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate technical ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • A team player who knows how to ask for help when you need it, to help teammates when possible, and build positive rapport with personnel.
