Springfield, Illinois OR RN Job Details Assignment Type : Locum tenens (travel nursing contract) Location : Springfield, Illinois (62781) - Illinois nursing jobs Duration : 13 weeks, with potential extension Shift : 4x10-hour day shifts (06 : 45 - 17 : 15) On-call : Approximately 1 per week (frequency may vary) Weekend Requirement : 1 weekend shift per month Start Date : October 27, 2025 End Date : January 26, 2026 Charting System : Cerner (Cerner experience preferred) Scrub Color : Provided Parking : Free with permit Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2450 - $2510 Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I trauma center Active Illinois RN license (or in application process) BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only) Travel nursing experience required Cerner charting experience preferred Must reside at least 50 miles from facility CNOR and CST certifications preferred Comprehensive OR and trauma case experience required Required surgical case experience : Bariatric (laparoscopic), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy / discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedic (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reduction), Plastic (free flap / microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), Trauma (amputations, gunshot / stab wounds, MVA) Emergency management skills : code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia Equipment proficiency : electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources / cords, Hana tables Professional skills : blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling / labeling, universal protocol, urinary bladder catheterization Ability to float within skill set as needed OR RN Responsibilities Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for a variety of surgical procedures Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes Demonstrate expertise in trauma, general, orthopedic, neuro, plastic, transplant, urology, and emergency surgical cases Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and universal procedures Respond to emergencies and participate in code responses as required Utilize Cerner for accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in on-call rotation and provide weekend coverage as scheduled Float to other units within scope of practice if needed Discover the advantages of working as a travel nurse in Springfield, Illinois—a city rich in history, scenic parks, and a welcoming community.
