About The Position
A TELE nurse, or telemetry nurse, is involved in treating patients being monitored for blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level, breathing rate, and other vital signs.
Typically, a tele nurse’s patients are those that need critical care but have been shifted from the ICU.Duties of a tele nurse (included but not limited to) : 1.
Monitor the electrocardiogram readout of patients2. Have technical knowledge of complicated medical equipment that are used to monitora patient’s health, and to interpret the equipment analysis3.
Knowledge of life support systems is necessary4. Should be well-versed with calculations of drug dosages as well as administeringconcoctions of continuous medications like platelet inhibitors5.
Go through previous medical history of the patient and ensure that there are noadverse reactions between different medications6.
Trained to provide medication through oral, subcutaneous, or intravenous drip routes7. Supervise the recovery of patients and help the medical team create treatment plans8.
Educate patients of all aspects of illness management, such as self-medication, diet,exercise, and rehab process after leaving the hospital9.
Monitor neurological conditions and sleep disorders10. During abnormal recordings shown by the monitoring equipment, these nurses areauthorized to start to the process of corrective actions11.
Since patients in step-down units require continuous monitoring, tele nurses mayhave to work long, variable shifts involving days, nights and weekends12.
Knowledge of specific medical conditions along with their methods of treatment isrequired13. Implement treatment plan of physician14.
Keep religious and cultural beliefs of patients in mind15. Involved in informing the patient and his / her family about the prevailing medicalcondition, as instructed by the doctor
