Emergency Management Discipline Lead
CDM Smith has an exciting, immediate opening for an experienced and driven client-focused Emergency Management Discipline Leader to support our Program Services team in growing our Emergency Management business.
In this position, you will manage and lead multi-discipline planning, disaster recovery, and grant administration teams for federal, state and local government agencies and public utilities.
As a strategic member of this team, you will have direct access to engineering and construction leaders across the organization and will be empowered to deliver innovative solutions while interacting effectively with clients, company management, administrators, project engineers, and vendors, and the industry’s best emergency services providers.
Assignments range from execution of projects to client relationship building, and supporting or leading proposal efforts.
Successful candidate will be responsible for :
- As a subject matter expert, be responsible for performing technical tasks including, but not limited to, preparing emergency action plans, procedures, federal and local policy documents;
- developing and organize short- and long-term recovery strategies and execution plans and programs pre- and post-disaster;
- initiating and maintaining relationships with funding recipients and potential recipients; initiating and maintaining relationships with potential subcontractors or industry partners;
assisting clients with strategizing on the approaches and best practices to meet their recovery goals and creating funding action plans
Under limited guidance from the Practice Leader, work effectively with client sales leaders, technical strategy leaders, regional team leaders and project managers to position, secure, and deliver quality projects.
Identify opportunities, lead marketing and proposal efforts, and lead project delivery teams.
Prepare, update and maintain the business strategy / business plan for growth in the Emergency Management market. Promote and champion the business line services of emergency preparedness planning, short- and long-term disaster recovery, grant and funding application, compliance and closeout.
Identify staffing and hiring needs for current backlog and future opportunities.
Work effectively with key technical specialists, project team members, delivery managers, and subcontractors. Assist with the coordination and development of plans, procedures, emergency action plans and related documents.
Plan and prepare project budgets and schedules as a technical leader. Facilitate effective communication between technical team members and project leadership.
- Responsible for leading the Emergency Management Community of Practice (CoP), mentoring staff, staff technical development and engagement in industry organizations.
- Contributing to the firm's stature by actively participating in leadership roles in the community and / or relevant industry organizations (such as International Association of Emergency Managers)
- Approximately 25% travel domestically and internationally
