Visiting Assistant Professor, Writing Description The University of Houston -Clear Lake (UHCL ) invites applications for a one -year faculty position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2024 in the Writing program .
The Writing program is housed in the Communication and Studio Arts department within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities .
Duties : + Teach four classes per semester (Fall and Spring ), with optional summer teaching+ Participate on college, program and departmental committees+ Perform related duties as assigned Qualifications Required : 99.
Master's degree in Composition Pedagogy, or a related field99. Areas of specialization include First -Year Composition, Business and / or Technical Writing .
99. Knowledge in current pedagogical techniques for successful student learning in the Writing discipline99. Proficiency in online learning management system, Canvas99.
Interpersonal skills to resolve student complaints and conflicts Preferred : + Master's degree in Composition / Rhetoric, English with an emphasis in Writing Pedagogy, or other related field+ Experience in Science Writing+ Experience teaching at the college or university level+ Experience teaching Writing in multiple delivery modalities+ Bilingual Skills (especially Spanish ) Required Attachments by Candidate Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter / Letter of Application, Teaching Philosophy or Statement, Evidence of Effective Teaching Notes to Applicant : Applications are only accepted online through our Job Opportunities website .
