Who are we looking for?
GHD is seeking a passionate and driven Senior Engagement Specialist to join our team in Buffalo, NY ! In this role, you'll take the lead in advancing our Lead & Copper (L&C) initiatives, serving as both a Business Development and Project Manager. You'll be at the forefront of community engagement, regulatory strategy, and brand elevation, working closely with clients, public relations teams, and community-based organizations to deliver impactful LCRR compliance programs. Your expertise will help shape how GHD supports water equity and affordability across diverse communities.
As a key member of our Advisory Engagement & Communications team, you'll manage project lifecycles from scope and budget to staffing and vendor coordination. You'll also represent GHD at industry conferences and webinars, submitting abstracts, presenting thought leadership, and amplifying our brand presence.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :
- Stakeholder Engagement : Contribute to stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns, arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
- Operational Compliance : Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Public / Government Relations Campaign Execution : Develop and / or deliver a public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration plan for significant aspects of a product, service, or business under guidance from senior colleagues.
- Information and Business Advice : Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
- Personal Capability Building : Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Public / Government Relations Campaign Planning : Develop and update the planning of public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration campaigns for a specific area, aligning this with business goals.
- External Communications : Execute a communications plan within established systems and procedures.
- Data Collection and Analysis : Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Content Creation : Write drafts and edit content in line with organizational style guidelines to format and publish information on websites and in print.
- Public / Government Relations Campaign Management : Manage a few public relations and government relations campaigns and negotiate service-level agreements to ensure successful campaigns and value for money. Plan, coordinate, and supervise activities relating to campaigns.
- Document Preparation : Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
- Client & Customer Management (External) : Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
What you'll bring to the team :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education, Public Relations, Finance10+ years of experience in a similar field will be considered in lieu of degreeAbility to demonstrate the leadership qualities required to manage projects, communicate effectively with clients and promote GHDs values and culture including SafetySalary Range : $84,800 - $141,000 based on experience and location.
