This is an opportunity to work in a progressive high-volume molding environment in the medical device industry. At BD Sandy, QC technicians utilize state of the art measurement equipment to assist in validation of molds that support the production of millions of medical device components each day.
Shift : Monday - Friday 2 : 00 PM -11 : 00 PM (swing shift)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Measure key quality characteristics on various molded plastic components and mold steel components.
Enter data into computer for analysis and prepare graphs and charts for data analysis.
Assist engineering in product design verification, process qualifications, and validations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform measurements with contact and vision CMM’s (Coordinate Measuring Machines) using pre-established routines and fixtures.
Program contact and vision CMM’s.
Perform measurements with calipers, digital micrometers, gage pins, drop depth gages, optical comparator and other basic measurement tools.
Read, interpret and apply the basics of engineering drawings such as dimensions, diameters, datum structure and definitions of such datum’s.
Perform simple data analysis.
Ensure measurement data is accurate and traceable.
Perform Gage R&R studies.
Follow all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.
Follow all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience programming contact and non-contact CMM’s.
Minimum 1 year experience in mechanical inspection.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings.
Experience using mechanical inspection and measuring equipment.
High School Diploma / GED required
PREFERRED AND ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Experience using CT scanners, vision systems and optical measurement devices is a plus.
2+ years experience preferred
Knowledge performing Gage R&R studies preferred.
Experience programming using Zeiss Calypso software preferred.
Knowledge in MS Excel and MS Word preferred.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work with minimal direction.
