Department Summary :
MITRE’s L142, Simulation, Experimentation, and Gaming Department provides a dynamic and agile workforce to design, develop, and employ simulation and game-based solutions to address our sponsors operational, engineering, and acquisition challenges.
We offer a range of services within this domain from consultation, to designing and running simulation and / or game-based experiments in close collaboration with our sponsors, to developing new tools or integrated engineering environments as part of a system, digital, or digital twin engineering environment.
L142 proudly serves all of the MITRE FFRDCs and we have an active and thriving research and development program within the organization.
Job Description :
- Work within multidisciplinary team to elicit sponsor requirements and determine simulation and / or integration / federation requirements for mission success.
- Design and develop simulations and federations of simulations and decision support tools for tactical, operational, and strategic military and non-military (e.
g., diplomatic, information, economic, disaster response, etc.) domains based on sponsor requirements.
Lead, conduct, and participate in pre-exercise, execution, and post-execution activities for simulation and federated simulation use.
Basic Qualifications :
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree;
or a PhD without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.
- 4+ years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including : computer-based simulation design / development and integration / federation with other simulations and tools, web or computer-based game, or simulation development.
- Active Top-Secret clearance and be willing to obtain TS / SCI.
- Preferred software development / integration experience with one or more following simulations, simulation environments, and integration architectures / tools : NGTS, AFSIM, GRID, OneSAF, JSAF, JTLS-GO, WARSIM, LVC-IA, NCTS, Unity, Unreal, Vassal, HLA, DIS, TENA.
- Preferred software development languages / tool experience with two or more : Java, C / C++, Python, message-based middleware (ActiveMQ, ZeroMQ, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide fact-based, actionable and relevant technical solutions and recommendations.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters or PhD in engineering or related technical field such as statistics, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.
- 10+ years relevant work experience supporting government customers.
- Active TS / SCI clearance.
- Preferred experience with two or more following wargaming roles : software development / integration experience with one or more following simulations and integration architectures / tools : NGTS, AFSIM, GRID, OneSAF, JSAF, JTLS-GO, WARSIM, LVC-IA, NCTS, Unity, Unreal, Vassal.
- Preferred experience with one or more C2 Systems : GCCS-J, AFATDS, AMDWS, TBMCS, ABMS.
