Job Summary
The ACTT Substance Abuse Specialist provides direct and indirect substance use counseling services to patients and their families using individual, group, and family therapy.
Provides comprehensive substance use assessment, risk assessments, treatment planning and coordination with the Assertive Community Treatment multidisciplinary team.
This is a direct service position requiring knowledge of serious mental illness, substance abuse counseling and specific knowledge and skill in rehabilitation and treatment for persons with co-occurring disorders.
Requires call including rotating coverage of nights, weekends and holidays for after hours emergencies.
Accountabilities
Provides direct and indirect substance use clinical / therapy services that considers the relationship between substance use and mental health to patients covering a broad range of standard practice modalities and theories, comprehensive assessments, diagnostic determinations, individual, group, and family therapy, aftercare services. 40%
Assess and tracks stage of change readiness and stages of treatment and utilizes this information to contribute to the patients individualized treatment plan. 15%
Performs case management responsibilities involved with patient care. This includes, but is not limited to, Utilization Review, Discharge Planning, Family Involvement / Education, timely and appropriate documentation as needed. 15%
Participatesas an active member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Serve as the consultant / educator to the ACT staff on integrated dual disorder treatment. 10%
Facilitates access to 12 step groups and other community supports, which includes transporting and attending meetings with consumers, if appropriate. 10%
Participates in the on-call system (rotating coverage of nights, weekends, and holidays) for after-hours emergencies. 10%
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related human services field.
1 year of experience providing direct counseling care in a behavioral care setting (hospital or community agency setting preferred).
Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses
Currently licensed as one of the following :
LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) or LISW (Licensed Independent Social Worker) through the SC Board of Social Work Examiners; or,
LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) through the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addition Counselors and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
Also licensed as one of the following :
LAC (Licensed Addiction Counselor), MAC (Master Addiction Counselor), or master's level ACA (Associate Counselor of Addiction) through the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Counselors and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Group, individual, and family therapy skills, psychiatric problem-solving abilities including case conceptualization, Psychosocial assessment skills, treatment planning skills.
Basic knowledge of computer software and utilization of electronic medical record.
South Carolina Driver's license.
