Summary :
Assists physicians and hospital staff in the management ofpatients with internal reservoirs, fistulas, draining wounds,special wound and skin problems, decubitus care and skin ulcers,incontinence, tracheostomy, and gastrostomy care with attention tospecific tube-feeding problems.
Assesses, plans, implements,evaluates and documents enterostomal patient education needs andcare according to established hospital policies.
Offers in-servicepresentations to hospital and home care staff. Demonstratesspecific care needs based on knowledge of correct prosthetic ostomyequipment and related products.
Promotes patient education and careby developing and updating programs.
TheRN-staff nurse, under the supervision of the nursingdirector / manager, provides patient care and / or support activitiesappropriate to ages served;
primarily adults ages 18-65 orgeriatric patient’s ages over 65. May also include care for infantage 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years.
Participates as primary nurse, associate nurse, a team member orteam leader in the planning and implementing of patient care.
Directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic technique andprocedures. Offers leadership and direction to nursing assistants,patient care technicians, department secretaries, and monitortechnicians.

Requirements :
A. Education / Skills
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school ofnursing.
- Training and experience indebridement and negative pressure preferred.
- Must be able to educate others regarding wouldcare and patient wound status.
B. Experience
Must possess two or more years of recentexperience as a Registered Nurse with wound care, emergency room orcritical care experience preferred.
C. Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications
- CurrentTexas RN license required.
- CPR (American HeartAssociation)
- Wound Care certification or inprogress
