We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Z / OS professional to join our team. This role will involve maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing complex mainframe environments, supporting system migrations, managing performance, and ensuring high availability. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mainframe system programming, z / OS upgrades, LPAR / MIPS management, tool migrations, and backup / recovery operations , with a passion for maintaining enterprise-class mainframe systems.

Job Description

As a Mainframe Z / OS professional, you will be responsible for managing incidents, service requests, upgrades, and tool migrations across mainframe systems. You will collaborate with internal teams and vendor partners to ensure system reliability, performance, and SLA compliance. The Mainframe Z / OS role requires hands-on expertise in system programming, performance tuning, capacity management, and datacenter operations for high-availability enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

Perform z / OS version upgrades (v2.4, v2.5, v3.1) and ensure system compatibility.

Upgrade and maintain enterprise tools, including Omegamon Suite, IBM TWS, IBM System Automation, IBM Tivoli, and NetView .

Manage and configure LPARs and MIPS , including remote administration, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Support mainframe migrations, datacenter moves, and system redesigns .

Execute backup and restore operations to and from tape, ensuring system integrity and disaster recovery readiness.

Troubleshoot incidents and service requests in complex mainframe environments .

Collaborate with vendor partners to meet SLAs, improve reporting, and enhance operational policies and procedures.

Maintain system documentation, upgrade logs, and operational procedures.

Monitor and manage capacity and performance metrics to ensure optimal mainframe performance.

Provide expert guidance on mainframe configuration, automation, and tool migration projects .

Essential Skills

Hands-on experience in Mainframe z / OS system programming and administration .

Expertise in mainframe upgrades and tool migration (Omegamon, IBM TWS, System Automation, Tivoli, NetView).

Knowledge of LPAR / MIPS management, capacity planning, and remote administration .

Experience in backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations .

Ability to manage complex system migrations and datacenter operations .

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent collaboration skills to work with vendor partners and internal teams .

Educational Background

Graduate in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field .
